Are you a Black African or Black Caribbean woman with experience of Lobular Breast Cancer or interested in women’s health and awareness?

Please help us shape research on Lobular Breast Cancer. In partnership with the University of Aberdeen, we are conducting a research project to understand how Black African and Black Caribbean women notice, interpret, and respond to subtle (non-lump) breast changes linked to Lobular Breast Cancer.

We also want to understand whether current awareness information is clear, culturally inclusive, and helpful in supporting timely help-seeking.

Who can participate?

There are two ways to participate in this study.

1. One -to -One Conversation

  • Black African or Black Caribbean women diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer (ILC)
  • Aged 18+ and living in the UK
  • Comfortable taking part in an online interview (via Microsoft Teams)

2. Friendly Group Conversation

  • Black African or Black Caribbean women aged 18+
  • No previous breast cancer diagnosis
  • Comfortable taking part in an online focus group

Why take part?

Lobular Breast Cancer often presents with subtle, non-lump symptoms, which can be harder to recognise. Awareness of these symptoms may vary across communities.

Your experiences and views will help:

  • Improve understanding of how women recognise and respond to symptoms
  • Ensure awareness materials are clear, relevant, and culturally inclusive
  • Support earlier help-seeking and reduce inequalities in breast cancer awareness

How to take part

If you’re interested, please contact the researcher before 30 June 2026 to find out more: Email: t10ac25@abdn.ac.uk (Abigail) or s.maclennan@abdn.ac.uk (Sara)

You will be provided with full study information before deciding whether to take part.
