#DistinctlyLobular

Email your MP

On Wednesday 4th March 2026, we’re hosting a Parliamentary Drop-in and we need as many MPs to attend as possible. We’re asking you to help us by emailing your MP to urge them to attend.

We want all MPs to understand that Lobular Breast Cancer is a distinct disease that can be difficult to diagnose. Detection of Lobular in both primary and secondary/metastatic disease can be challenging with current standards of care.

We want MPs to know this and support changes that enhance early detection.

We have provided you with some suggested copy below for your email. Please add in any details about your personal experience with Lobular Breast Cancer too.

How to email your MP

Step 1

First, please read through the page to understand the steps in emailing your MP, especially look at the suggested template email below.

Once you are ready, you can start at Step One and visit the WriteToThem website.

Step 2

Add your postcode into the box on the WriteToThem website, as seen below where the postcode M21 9FJ has been added.

Step 3

Select your MP from the list shown.

Step 4

WriteToThem works best when messages are in your own words. Please use our template below as a guide, but add a few sentences about your own experience. Even a short paragraph makes a real difference.

You might want to include:

  • When you (or someone close to you) were diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer
  • Any challenges you faced with diagnosis, scans, or treatment
  • How it felt not seeing Lobular recognised as a distinct disease
  • Why this Drop-In matters to you personally
  • What you hope will change

Your MP is far more likely to attend if they understand why this matters to someone in their constituency.

Dear [first name] [last name] MP

RE: Invitation to DistinctlyLobular MP Drop In with Lobular Breast Cancer UK

I am writing to you, as my MP, to attend a Lobular Breast Cancer UK MP Drop-in at 1pm – 2.30pm on Wednesday 4 March in Room N in Portcullis House.

Please include here information about why this is personal to you and why it matters to you.

Early diagnosis is a priority in the new 10 Year Cancer Plan, but due to its unique growth pattern, Lobular Breast Cancer can be hard to detect in primary and secondary disease. Additionally, Lobular is not recognised as a distinct disease in the NICE and SIGN Treatment Guidelines, despite research evidence outlining its different biology and behaviour.

Over 8,500 women are diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer every year in the UK, making it the sixth most prevalent cancer in women. You will be able to hear from women impacted by a Lobular diagnosis and the challenges they have faced in being diagnosed with this distinct disease, how you can support the improvement of information and services to ensure that anyone affected by Lobular lives and lives well, and learn about the work of Lobular Breast Cancer UK to drive change through their #DistinctlyLobular campaign.

The Rt Hon Helen Hayes, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood is sponsoring the event and politicians from across parliament and their staff are invited to attend.

It would mean a great deal to me if you could attend the MP Drop-in to learn more about Lobular Breast Cancer and Lobular Breast Cancer UK.

Complementary refreshments will be provided.

Please email claire@lobularbreastcancer.org.uk to confirm your attendance.

Kind regards
