#Distinctly Lobular

Participate in our James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership

Do you want the rare opportunity to be part of helping to shape the health research agenda in the UK and standard of care for Lobular Breast Cancer?

Are you someone affected by Lobular, either through your own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a family member or close friend?

We are recruiting people whose lives have been impacted by Lobular to be part of our Steering Group for a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership. We are partnering with researchers at De Montfort University to conduct this PSP.

What is a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership?

James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) helps to make research as meaningful as possible to the people who need it and result in real clinical change. It brings together patients, carers and clinicians to agree which treatments should become part of clinical practice and deserve priority attention.

Our PSP will prioritise the Top 10 research challenges to change UK breast cancer treatment guidelines, in primary and secondary/metastatic Lobular Breast Cancer.

PSPs enable clinicians, patients and carers to work together to identify and prioritise research needs for specific health conditions.

What would my role on the Steering Group be?

Your role on the Steering Group will be to:

  • work alongside healthcare professionals (oncologists, radiologists, nurses, GPs) on the Steering Group;
  • take part in all Steering Group meetings and communications, 1 – 1.5 hours every month maximum online;
  • publicise and share participation opportunities to the wider public;
  • share patient and family/carer perspectives in developing the Top 10 list;
  • oversee the planning of a one-day final priority-setting workshop that ranks and agrees the final Top 10;
  • maintain the integral principles of the PSP of equal involvement, inclusivity, transparency and a commitment to using and contributing to the existing evidence base.

All participants’ time will be recognised through financial compensation.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying, please click the button below and complete the expression of interest form by 12pm Monday 2 March 2026.

It is important in the Steering Group that we have a representation of experiences including primary and metastatic disease, age, geographical location and there are also only 6 places available. If you are not selected for the Steering Group, there are additional opportunities to get involved with the PSP, and we hope that you will still be interested in taking part in the future.

If you have any questions, please contact Helen Coulthard at hcoulthard@dmu.ac.uk and Claire Turner at claire@lobularbreastcancer.org.uk

James Lind Alliance’s organisation is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), but PSPs are funded by external organisations. Our PSP is funded by De Montfort University and Lobular Breast Cancer UK.
