Emma Amos, Kirstin Spencer and Claire Turner, successfully represented LBCUK building new international partnerships at the recent International ILC Symposium in Utrecht.

Organised by the European Lobular Breast Cancer Consortium (ELBCC) and Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA), the Symposium is the only conference in the world that focuses solely on lobular breast cancer research and advocacy.

Over two days, clinicians, scientists & researchers presented on the latest reseach taking place into lobular & discussed how we can work together to improve outcomes for everyone diagnosed with lobular.

Emma, a LBCUK Trustee, presented a poster (literally a poster with scientific information on it) about our research partnership with De Montfort University, Leicester, exploring the additional care needs of patients with lobular breast cancer.

Claire, our Chair, presented twice. Once with lead lobular researcher Dr Steffi Oesterreich from the University of Pittsburgh about the research paper written with exemplar lobular patient advocate Leigh Pate and published in Cancer journal. The paper focused on the challenges presented by lobular and how collaboration is needed to make real change.

She then talked about about our partnerships with universities in the UK and how LBCUK is developing in the UK.

We’ll share further information about the research at the Symposium and how the new partnerships are developing in the near future.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated towards our recent Walking Our Mammaries fundraiser, as your support enabled us to fund the attendance of our volunteer advocates.
