Due to the growth of LBCUK’s activities and our expanding role in advocacy and research across the UK and internationally, we’re delighted to announce that Claire Turner has been appointed as Interim part time Chief Executive for the charity.

Dame Martina Milburn, LBCUK Patron and former group CEO of The Prince’s Trust, said, “It’s so important for the charity to strengthen the leadership of LBCUK through Claire’s appointment. Over the past 12 months, the ask for support from patients, collaborations with Lobular research programmes, and the need to build understanding and knowledge about this distinct disease has grown rapidly. Additionally, LBCUK’s treatment guidelines campaign to create real clinical change requires a clear focus and drive to achieve its aims.”

Claire has over 30 years’ experience in the charity sector, working for and leading charities such as Drake Music Project, Manchester Pride and Manchester Histories. She is a Consultant working with independent charities in the arts and cultural sector, and with CEOs and Boards on governance, strategic development, enhancing community and stakeholder engagement and income generation. Claire recognised the need for a Lobular charity after experiencing her own 5 year struggle to be diagnosed due to the challenges Lobular can present in its detection. Unable to find any information about the disease in the UK, she put a call out to other Lobular patients, supported by clinicians and researchers, to set up LBCUK.

“I’m delighted to be driving the charity and our work. Especially important is our campaign to ensure Lobular is recognised and treated appropriately in the breast cancer treatment guidelines. This will improve clinical treatments and outcomes for everyone currently dealing with this disease and those who come after us.”, said Claire.

We welcome Trustees Emma Amos and Anne Carey as Co-Chairs for the charity. Emma is one of LBCUK’s founder Trustees, a working actress and brings an in-depth knowledge of the charity and its purpose. Anne joined as a new LBCUK Trustee in 2024, has worked in the charity sector for many years, and is currently Corporate Partnership Manager at charity Missing People.
