Let’s change breast cancer guidelines and get the most effective treatments for Lobular patients.
Can you help us by completing a Lobular patient survey to start our treatment guidelines campaign?
In the UK, the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE in England, Northern Ireland and Wales) and Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN in Scotland) set national breast cancer guidelines that our medical teams use to help them determine the treatments we should be provided with.
Currently, Lobular Breast Cancer is not recognised as a distinct disease in the NICE and SIGN guidelines. Lobular is mentioned once in the entire guidelines. As a result, we are not always receiving treatments that are the most effective for Lobular.
In response to patient demand, we’re launching a campaign to change these guidelines and the first step is a survey to understand the different ways we are being diagnosed and treated for Lobular across the UK.
Your involvement in the survey will help us to build our campaign. There will be more opportunities to take part including helping to share public information about Lobular, case studies on hospitals that are stepping outside the guidelines for Lobular patients, and reaching out to MPs and politicians to engage them with the campaign.

The deadline for completing the survey is Monday 12 August 2024.
