Following her own diagnosis of Stage 4 Lobular Breast Cancer, Susan Michaelis is determined to contribute towards solving the challenges of this distinct disease.
Working with Professor Chris Lord from the Institute for Cancer Research, Susan has launched the Lobular Moonshot Project to raise £20 million towards lobular breast cancer research. This distinct disease is under-researched and under-funded and Susan is working to change this.
“To get people better outcomes we need specific treatments and that will only come from specific research into lobular”, says Susan.
In addition to the fundraising, Susan and her husband Tristan have created two films to support the Lobular Moonshot Project, Eve Groves a short dramatic film based on Susan’s own experienced and a feature length documentary My Journey with Lobular, that explores the science and facts behind lobular breast cancer.
We’re really pleased that Claire Turner, our Chair, also features in the documentary talking about the complimentary work of LBCUK. It’s only through collaboration and us all working together that we will improve outcomes for everyone.
Both films will be launched at a private viewing on 25 May, and then available for the public online.
