We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dame Martina Milburn, Group Chief Executive of The Prince’s Trust, as a new Patron with Lobular Breast Cancer UK. Dame Martina is responsible for The Prince’s Trust’s six charitable organisations in the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA and International.
She began her career in journalism and has been CEO of ASPIRE, the Association of Spinal Injury Research Rehabilitation and Reintegration, and the BBC Children in Need Appeal. Dame Martina has been a Director of Capital City College Group and was a founder of Movement to Work. She is a trustee of several charities and mentors several young people and also chaired the Social Mobility Commission in 2018-2020.
” I am honoured to become a patron for Lobular Breast Cancer UK and humbled to be supporting such a great cause. The stories of the women involved with the charity should inspire us all,” says Dame Martina.
Dame Martina’s invaluable experience of developing successful charitable organisations will help us to raise awareness of lobular breast cancer and bring real benefits to anyone affected by this distinct disease.
“We have an exciting year ahead of us in 2022,” says Claire Turner, Chair of LBCUK. “We are honoured to have Dame Martina joining us this year as we launch a new lobular information campaign, deliver Walking our Mammaries our first official charity fundraiser and publicise the findings from our first collaborative lobular research.
As a relatively new and small charity, the support of Dame Martina is already helping us to raise awarenss and understanding of this distinct disease.”
