This year has been an incredible one for us at Lobular Breast Cancer UK and for our work — and it’s only been possible thanks to your support. Together, we’ve made real strides in raising knowledge and understanding, building connections, and helping to push research forward.

Over the last twelve months, some of the things we have done include:

  • building new partnerships with hospitals and trusts including the Breast Care team at Barts Hospital, paving the way for further Lobular clinical research;
  • participating in the One Cancer Voice campaign to implement change through the new Cancer Plan;
  • reaching 22,000 people through our website, and 44,000 across our socials, sharing information and increasing knowledge about Lobular;
  • hosting Lobular Meet Ups in partnership with Future Dreams (both online and in person), giving patients much-needed connection and support;
  • participating in the Lobular conversation at the Houses of Parliament, attending a debate on the disease;
  • sharing our own findings with the global Lobular community by presenting two research posters and delivering a session on the psychological impacts of a Lobular diagnosis at the International Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Symposium;
  • launching our GP Working Group to strengthen understanding of Lobular and how symptoms can present;
  • helping women to explore their thoughts and feelings through a free journalling workshop with our Patron, writer Josie Lloyd;
  • featuring in major media outlets including BBC Radio 5 Live, Glamour magazine, and the Mail on Sunday Health pages, helping us reach thousands of people with our message that Lobular Breast Cancer is a distinct disease.

We’ve also been busy bringing people together. Through the UK Lobular Breast Cancer Network, we now have more than 30 healthcare professionals, researchers, and patient advocates sharing information and working collectively to drive change — sparking new ideas and collaborations.

Our research involvement continues to grow, as we partnered on six new Lobular research applications submitted this year from basic biology to clinical trials; worked on three new studies; pushed to increase the inclusion of Lobular patients in wider breast cancer trials (such as the FastMRI study); and co-authored on two internationally published Lobular research papers.

What we’ve achieved has been made possible through the generosity of our fundraisers and supporters.

But we are only a small team…and we have BIG ambitions! Please donate today to celebrate our 4th birthday and to help us to achieve our goals – a world where, working together we can all live well.
