In March, Fiona Barber, who has had a Lobular Breast Cancer diagnosis, and is a retired GP and a member of our GP Working Group, attended the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Primary Care Cancer conference.

As part of our #DistinctlyLobular campaign, we had a stand and Fiona got to chat with lots of GPs and GP Practice Nurses. As a result of that conference, Fiona and our CEO, Claire Turner, were invited to take part in a webinar with Wessex Cancer Alliance.  

In the webinar, Fiona and Claire from Lobular Breast Cancer UK and Dr Christine Glew, GP Advisor for Wessex Cancer Alliance, discuss the challenges of Lobular Breast Cancer.

Fiona and Claire both share their personal experiences, helping to illustrate the impact of delayed diagnosis and the importance of raising knowledge of the signs and symptoms of both primary and metastatic Lobular Breast Cancer among the general public, GPs and other healthcare professionals.

The webinar also provides practical advice on recognising symptoms, common myths, and knowing when to investigate further.

One of the elements of #DistinctlyLobular is to increase clinicians’ knowledge of Lobular. Last year we partnered with Breast Cancer Now for a webinar which was aimed at Breast Cancer nurses. In this webinar with Wessex Cancer Alliance, it’s aimed at increasing knowledge among GPs and GP Practice Nurses.
